Hard Slog

Tuesday 19th March

This week has been a hard slog on my WIP. Some sub plots wound up, including the one I found most difficult, that is: my main character who is dachshund obsessed, was desperate to have a puppy. This had been the case throughout the first draft, but it was left a bit in the air at the end of the novel so I have created a good reason—and a few scenes to illustrate this good reason—why a decision would be made by his parents. Since this was cognitively satisfactory, but not emotionally satisfactory, I then decided on a sideways move which would be both rational, possible and pull at the heartstrings.
